Kishiwada Station. A young man -- really, most likely high school aged, although you can't discern it in this picture -- kneels on the ground before bursting into a breakdance routine. At the moment he is thinking, letting the music surging from the nearby boombox (specifically, Don't Stop the Music by Rihanna) turn into pulses in his body, mind almost audibly counting the beats. One, two, three, four, one...
Kishiwada Station at night is one of my most favorite places in Japan. While Shinsaibashi and Namba tend to get a lot of the fame for being centers of youth culture, I think it's places like this -- a somewhat sleepy train station in a usually overlooked city suburb -- that really reflect Japan's youth's real character.

I don't know which of these subjects is fiercer (in the Tyra Banks sense of the word), but I'm pretty sure my tantan noodles could stand a fighting chance.
