Naniwa Midday

I already posted a picture for Project365, so these will be bonus pictures. I might not even finish this entry before midnight strikes, but these were all taken on January 5th, 2009, as I strolled around the edge of Namba, trying to clear my mind before work.

First I returned to Naniwa Yasaka Shrine, which has quickly become one of my favorite places in this crazy city.

There weren't as many visitors as there were a few days ago, but there was still some excitement.

I absolutely love this guy.

I feel like there is a conversation going on here.
"Do you think someone should tell her those boots make her calves look huge?"
"Mmhmm, but it isn't gonna be me."

...this is Osaka, after all.

I wanted to try and capture the scale of this thing. It's mammoth!

I love winter flowers.

People of Namba, make your first shrine visit of the year Naniwa Yasaka Shrine!

I still had about ten minutes to kill after leaving the shrine, so I took a few more pictures around the general area.

We can't have real flowers, but we can damn well have paintings of them!

Towards Nipponbashi.

I've actually gone a nice distance in this direction on my bike before, and I still don't exactly know what's out there.

Osaka.

It looks like I might in time to make this entry before midnight. Work wasn't as brutal as I had been fearing, but the seven coffees might have helped a bit. A bit.
